The "Following Directions" keychain is a tool designed to help children with communication disorders improve their ability to follow instructions and directions. While the 'critical communication skills' keychain would be worn by the child, the 'following directions' keychain would be worn or held by the parent/teacher/caregiver.
This keychain is intended for providing a visual to accompany common instructions we give to children. For example, 'stop', 'wait', 'sit down', 'gentle hands'. Children with communication difficulties can have trouble following verbal instructions as words are so transient. The visual provides a more solid cue to help the child understand what is being asked of them.
